Abstract

Shipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya (PPNS) is planning to construct a
thermal piping system in one of its plumbing laboratories for clean and dirty water distribution to
support building operations. The system will be installed in the Plumbing Laboratory, located on
the 7th floor of Building J. The piping system will utilize Polypropylene Random (PPR) pipes,
known for being environmentally friendly and recyclable. The connection method used is
Polyfusion, adhering to the ISO21307: 2017 standard. This research focuses on several key
aspects: determining the effective pipe installation distance, connecting fittings in accordance with
standards, and simulating the connection process for hot water pipes. It also serves as a reference
for both piping design and installation practices, providing educational value for students and
supporting scientific and professional disciplines. The study calculates total pipe requirements by
analyzing field data and determining the total length of the pipe segments needed. Results show
that the total length required for ½ inch hot water pipes is 15,925 mm, with connection distances
established using 1 cm socket. Additionally, pressure tests on the PPR pipes confirmed that they
can withstand up to 19 bar (290 psi) without leakage, proving their suitability for hot water piping
systems.
