Abstract

- An oil refinery company located in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan is building a new plant,
named New Crude Palm Oil (CPO) Refinery Plant. In this plant, a pressure vessel called Main
Condensate Tank is required to accommodate condensate water. Main Condensate Tank design refers
to ASME section VIII division I with SA 516 grade 70 material. The design pressure value is 2 barg
and the design temperature value is 180?C. Modeling and stress analysis using software. Based on the
results of the manual thickness calculation for the shell and head 0,438 in. For the shell and head
MAWP values obtained are 144,576 psi and 170,816 psi. Meanwhile, the MAEP shell and head
values obtained are 18,081 psi and 40,495 psi. The stress analysis using software obtained a max.
von-mises stress value of 12959 psi and can be considered safe because it is still below the material
allowable stress.
