Abstract

Abstract - An oil company in Gresik has a piping system for thermal oil distribution with high temperatures. One of the lines contained in this piping system is line 350-TOHS-9901-C14B-100HC. With a diameter of 14 in and high temperature, line 350-TOHS-9901-C14B-100HC is included in the critical line category. To find out whether the line is overstressed or not, this final project discusses the analysis of stress and flexibility on the 350-TOHS-9901-C14B-100HC line piping. The analysis includes flexibility and stress analysis using stress analysis software due to sustained load and thermal load according to ASME B31.3 permit standards. The calculation of flexibility uses the simplified flex analysis method which shows the pipeline to find out whether the system is flexible or not. The results of the flexibility calculation on this line do not exceed the K1 value so that the piping line is declared flexible and feasible to operate. After a stess analysis using software, a stress value due to sustain load of 7145 psi was obtained which did not exceed the standard value of ASME B31.3 permit of 17156 psi. The stress value due to thermal load is 30746.7 psi, which exceeds the standard value of ASME B31.3 permit of 29289 psi. So that this piping line is not safe and can be advised to the relevant company so that the line can be re-designed to be safe
