Abstract

Abstract - The Batang Steam Power Plant (PLTU), Central Java is engaged in state electricity production by
utilizing coal sources. In the PLTU system, there is a term, namely, Balance Of Plant (BOP) which is useful for
stabilizing a plant with several systems in it. Actual testing is carried out to determine the lifetime in terms of
strength and resistance of the material to fluid conditions. Research for this final project is in the form of
corrosion rate analysis with Immersion Test testing, using variables including the influence of fluid temperature
and flowrate on material strength. Then proceed with the lifetime calculation of Carbon Steel A106 Gr B and
Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) materials in the condesate polishing system of PLTU Batang. The results
obtained by carbon steel material with fluid flowrate service condition 1,655 m/s – 1,775 m/s and operating
temperature 80-100oC can last 11 to 15 years. FRP material can last up to twice as much, namely 33 to 45.
The calculation of project costs obtained a value of Rp 11,783,935,000 for Carbon Steel A 106 Grade B
material and Rp 166,060,000 for FRP material. Based on the research that has been done, FRP material is
superior in terms of technical and economical..
