Abstract

Abstract – Piping installation that connects the Auxiliary Boiler to the Desalination Plant has a function to channel steam to the brine heater. Failure can occur due to fluid temperature not reaching the specifications of the machine, resulting in reduced efficiency.. So it is necessary to do an analysis to find out the insulation that can affect the size of the fluid temperatureThis research analyses more about the economic aspect, namely the economic thickness of the insulation used. The insulation material used is Cellular Glass with a thickness variation of 0 mm to 100 mm with a difference of 5 mm for each variation. Economic analysis, carried out using life cycle cost analysis, the results show that the economic thickness of the insulation is at a thickness of 70 mm with a total energy cost of Rp570.751.000, - per metres and annual energy savings of Rp12.402.200.000, - per metres
