Abstract

Abstract - One of the oil and gas companies aims to replace the existing pipe network in the Rokan work area because the service life has almost exceeded the design life so it must be replaced with a new design. Due to the change in the new pipeline network, a pigging system is also needed as a pipeline maintenance and maintenance process with the tool used to support the pigging process is a pig launcher, in this network system the pig launcher is located at the Minas Tank Farm terminal. In the design of the pig launcher, which refers to the ASME VIII Division I standard, the minimum thickness and MAWP are 0.332 inch and 1307.21 psi major barrel, 0.298 inch and 1396.06 psi minor barrel shell, 0.338 inch and 1168.35 psi cone section with values MAEP on the pig launcher is 573.18 psi for the major barrel, 622.48 psi for the minor barrel and 686.28 psi for the cone section. The nozzle contained in this pig launcher design does not use a reinforcing pad. In the saddle design the stress value is still below the allowable stress value on the saddle and the value of the lifting lug strength is 230.8 psi which is still below the allowable strength value of 2400 psi so that it is declared acceptable
