Pengaruh Waktu dan Tegangan Elektroplating Nikel terhadap Ketahanan Korosi pada Material A53 Grade B
Abstract
Electroplating is a metal plating process using the help of electric currents. This study, used a time variation of 30 minutes, 40 minutes, 50 minutes, and a voltage of 2 volts, 3 volts, 4 volts, 5 volts, 6 volts. A53 steel pipe as a cathode, graphite as anode, and nickel sulfate as a metal coating. To determine the resistance of the electroplating layer, a corrosion test was carried out. From the electroplating test at 30 minutes with a voltage of 2 volts, it resulted in a thickness of 3.30 μm and at 50 minutes with a voltage of 6 volts which resulted in a thickness of 7.13 μm. Based on the calculation of the corrosion rate at 30 minutes with a voltage of 2 volts resulted in the corrosion rate of 0.07874 mm / y and at 50 minutes with a voltage of 6 volts it has a corrosion rate of 0.01727 mm / y. It can be concluded that the effect of the longer time variation and greater voltage on the electroplating process results in a thicker thickness. Likewise, in the corrosion test, the effect of the longer time variation and the greater the voltage on the electroplating process resulted in a slower corrosion rate.
