Abstract

Storage tank is one of the important components in the petroleum industry that serves as a container to accommodate raw materials or finished products. Due to the expansion of oil refineries which can be increased into 100.000 barrels per day, many additional equipment including storage tanks are provided. The design of this tank construction refers to the API 650 12th edition standard, adendum 2, 2016. The method used for calculating the plate thickness is one foot method includes the shell, bottom plate, annular bottom plate, and the roof. While for the cathodic protection, NACE standard is used. From the calculations, it is found that the minimum thickness of plates on the shell course is 1-9 = 28 mm, 24 mm, 22 mm, 19 mm, 16 mm, 12.7 mm, 10 mm, 8 mm, 8 mm, bottom plate = 9 mm, annular bottom plate = 12 mm and roof = 8 mm. Also based on the calculation, an achor is unneeded for the tank. While for the cathodic protection, the result is taken from the comparation of ICCP and SACP method.
