Abstract

This research focuses on standpipe line, this standpipe is possible for dangerous and and inhibit drilling activities. In this study flowing water based mud type drilling fluid. In addition to the main content in the form of water as a base for mud, it also has a solid content that serves to provide specific gravity and to make mud have a viscosity. Because of the existence of this solid content, if not done good handling it will cause damage to the pump and can also cause erosion on the standpipe line. This study will calculate the erosion rate and lifetime of the existing standpipe using the DNV RP O501 standard and API 570. As well as a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation which is then varied to find the effect of the erosion rate with the flow velocity and the distance between the blinded tee and pipe bend. Simulation variations include flow velocity of 8.3 m / s, 10.5 m / s, 12.5 m / s and the distance between blinded tee and pipe bend of 0.486 m, 0.957 m, 1,271 m. The results of this study indicate that there is a change due to changes in the speed at which the faster the fluid flow make the greater value of erosion rate and shorter lifetime. While the longer distance between blinded tee and pipe bend results in smaller erosion rate and longer lifetime.
