Abstract

Abstract - In the chemical industry, corrosion problems often occur due to the acidity of liquids. Like one of the phosphoric acid factories in Manyar Roomo Gresik which has a fairly high acidity level. To overcome this, factory installations use materials such as Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics that are strong and resistant to corrosion. The material is made from a woven webbing and laminated mats using resin, catalysts and other additives. In this final project, to find out Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics material with Mepoxe, Mepoxe M, and CHP catalysts and Mat and WR settings. In this study immersion tests and Tensile tests were carried out to determine corrosion resistance and material strength. Tests on materials were carried out using 36 specimen samples consisting of 3 types of catalysts and 3 types of layer Mat and WR. The tensile test process refers to the ASTM D-638 "Standard Test Method for Plastic Tensile Properties" while the immersion test refers to ASTM-G31. From the research above the highest corrosion rate and the lowest tensile strength value of the specimens using CHP catalyst type with layer 1 variations (w, m, m, w, m, m, m, w)) that is 0.0170 mm / year and 69 , 70 MPa. It can be concluded that specimens that have the greatest tensile strength and are corrosion resistant to phosphoric acid liquids with pH1 and temperature 70 ° are specimens which have a high percentage using the Mepoxe M catalyst type and a large number of mobile weavings in the coating arrangement.
