In the chemical industry piping systems are the most important aspect in production. Material failures in the piping network in the chemical industry are often caused by corrosion and erosion, where interactions between the metal pipes and the fluid that flows happen. As happened in the short spool precisely on M-2401B (agitator) to P-2401 (pump) which has a leak. The fluid that is supplied is phosphoric acid which is pumped using a centrifugal pump. This final project analyzes the potential causes of leaks that occur in the short spool M-2401B towards P-2401 including analysis of corrosion potential using potentiostat testing, erosion potential refers to DNVGL-RP-0501, minimum thickness, life time. With the results of analysis and calculation, the company can minimize the potential for leakage in the short spool and then use FRP material as a coating and maintain the stability of production.
