Abstract

Abstract – In the pipeline project of the SP Jatiasri – SP Bongas which function to deliver natural gas fluids, has a length of 11 km and is in the pipe is planted below the ground (buried pipeline). The buried pipeline is very susceptible to corrosion so cathodic protection is needed to prevent corrosion. One of the cathodic protections is an impress current method that can protect the pipeline   structure by flowing in the direct current that is obtained from other sources. In this study, it discusses the design calculation of forced current cathodic protection and economic calculation. the first step in this research is corrosion testing on material API 5L Gr. B by electrochemical method. From the results of corrosion testing data obtained current density and corrosion rate, where the current density data is intended for computation of forced current cathodic design calculations and corrosion rate data is used to calculate the age of the pipeline design. From these steps, a good design of cathodic protection is obtained and an economical budget draft is obtained.  From the analysis of this study the results of corrosion testing on material API 5L Gr. B were obtained which is in the form of current density data. Where the lower the soil pH (5; 5.5; 6; 6.5; 7), the greater the current density. While the higher the soil pH (5; 5.5; 6; 6.5; 7), the smaller the current density. The cathodic protection design on the Jatiasri SP pipeline – SP Bongas requires 2 sets of graphite anodes and the draft current design cost for cathodic protection at each soil PH (5; 5.5; 6; 6.5; 7) requires a cost of Rp. 71,275,000.00.
