Abstract

Abstract - A storage tank whose design does not take into account the effects of earthquakes in the surrounding area, can result in high sloshing waves from the fluid in the event of an earthquake. So that the research aims to get the effect of sloshing in the form of wave height and pressure on the tank wall and study the storage tank design that can reduce the effect of fluid sloshing in the tank using baffle. The tanks analyzed are TK0302 and  height of fluid is  maximum design liquid level (24.1 m), PFL (Permited Fill Level) (23.4 m), and LLL (Low Low Level) (1.2 m), the fluid is Mogas (Motor Gasoline). This study aims to obtain the resulting pressure sloshing when hitting the tank wall and get a storage tank baffle design that can reduce the effect of sloshing. The method  is a simulation with SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) software. The results obtained from the study are the Tank with a PFL which produces the highest sloshing wave height of 1.8874 m  with a pressure ranging from 3.46 x 10-4 MPa – 5.91 MPa. Therefore the baffle design is applied to the Tank with fluid height according to the product height PFL and added to the fluid height maximum design liquid level.
